Our Philosophy

My Knowledge Tree, a privately owned tutoring company, was founded by Christina Rezende, credentialed teacher, tutor, and mentor. Tutoring sessions are geared toward each student’s needs and can be as simple or involved as necessary. Our program helps students overcome academic challenges, specifically in the areas of reading and writing, as well as assisting those with general learning disabilities and who speak English as a second language. The philosophy practiced here is to treat our clients first as human beings and then as students. As humans, we all have fears, insecurities, and doubts that interfere with our success. Students who have struggled at something either academically or in their personal lives often put up a defense mechanism and shut down whenever the topic and/or subject is addressed. At My Knowledge Tree, tutors create an environment that is safe, comfortable, and friendly so that students don’t feel defensive or embarrassed about the challenges they face in a particular subject. The student has to be willing to let you in before meaningful learning and real progress can take place. All students are capable of learning when high quality education and resources are available, and knowledgeable and compassionate teachers implement instruction. Once students are at ease and progress is being made, students will soon be on their way to independent, academic success, which is ultimately the goal of our specialized tutoring program.
